MAG Ireland will be on stand F10 (adjacent to the Carole Nash stand) so why not stop by and say hello? We’ll have the latest information on issues affecting Irish riders including IBT, and the proposed changes to the driving license as well as the latest from Europe on the proposals for type approval & periodic technical inspection.
MAG Ireland, in common with other FEMA members, will be launching a petition against periodic technical inspection (PTI), which is basically a compulsory NCT for bikes. The aim of the petition is to get 100,000 bikers signatures representing every EU country to present to the EU Commission underlining our argument that fewer than 1% of bike crashes are as a result of mechanical defect.
According to MAG Ireland spokesperson Linda O’Loideoin;
The EU Commission believes that an expensive and unnecessary annual technical inspection will reduce casualties, and is determined to push through it’s proposals in the complete & total absence of any evidence that they will work. If the EU Commission wins on this one, your bike will be subject to an annual NCT style inspection at your expense for no measurable benefit to you. Whether you are a MAG member or not, please lend your support by adding your signature to the petition. MAG volunteers will be on hand throughout the show to answer any questions you might have.
As ever you can join MAG Ireland (or renew your membership) on the day, and we’ll have a selection of MAG merchandise available for purchase with all proceeds helping to promote & protect Irish motorcycling. We look forward to seeing you in person at the show.
